What sad news to hear of the passing of Robin Williams. He was a manic comic force to be sure, but he also knew how to drive to the heart of a role. The Genie was more than a parlor trick, Popeye more than a comic strip brought to life and Mork more than a cheap T.V. alien gimmick.
We’ll never know what other creations were bubbling to the surface, what he could have done if he’d lived to the same ripe old age as his hero, Jonathan Winters, but we’ll always have his impressive and often surprising filmography to bring a smile to a rainy day.
Rest in Peace, Robin. May your family find comfort within this devastating reality.
