I’m excited to report that I’ve been very busy lately. I just finished up some really fun pages for Pink Panther featuring some of his very under-utilized supporting cast. Now I’m off and running on new stuff for the Free Comic Book Day issue of Underdog, coming this May. Here’s a little preview of some of the art I’ve finished so far.
Twenty plus years into my career, I still get starry-eyed when I get to write and draw new stories for characters I grew up with. There’s more in the pipeline, too… But I can’t announce them just yet.
ANNOUNCING MY NEW PATREON CAMPAIN
I’ve opened up a new way to buy my art, pay for commissions over time, and even get some one-on-one story and cartooning training. Read on to learn more:
WHAT IS A PATREON CAMPAIGN?
Patreon is a website where fans can support their favorite creators by pledging a certain amount of money each month. Often, the creators return the favor by offering a reward in return. For my new campaign, you can earn anything from a monthly art card to color commissions… There’s even an option to get one-on-one training and review sessions. Here’s an overview of my campaign from the Patreon website, or you can click here to go right to the campaign.
Hi! My name is Adrian Ropp and I’ve been working in the entertainment industry for over 20 years as a storyboard artist and director. I’ve also had a small career as a comic book writer and artist for such classic characters as Archie, Pink Panther and The Three Stooges. I’ve also been writing and drawing a web comic, Chim Chum and the Portly Samurai, for about five years.
Most recently I served as Lead Story Artist on a dream project, Disney Infinity. I got to work with a lot of incredible characters and develop and adapt new stories for them. Among others, I worked on Cars, Monsters University, The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and a little-known art house project known as Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It was an amazing experience. I mean, how often do you get to storyboard and direct a sequence like this:
It was fun while it lasted, but Disney made the decision to bring an end to the Infinity product and closed our studio. Now, I’m looking forward to the next steps in my career and hoping I can bring my fans along with me. My postcard size prints are popular at comic conventions and I get many requests for commissioned art, so I’ve decided to try to combine these into an ART CARD CLUB!
So here’s how it works. You make a monthly donation to my Patreon account (you can cancel any time) and at very least you will have a 5 x 7 “Postcard of the Month” mailed to your U.S. address. Different price tiers bring with them additional rewards: bonus postcards, access to drawing tutorials and previews, and more. You can even use your donation as a way to save up for a color commission of your choice!* (Thumbelina is an example of one of my commissions. The Justice League is an example of what one of the art cards would look like.) Postcard rewards will be mailed out on the last day of each month, and they will either feature a classic character or one of my own creations.
There’s a lot of great bonuses to be had with the different donation levels, including original art commissions of your chosing, members only drawing videos and the opportunity to receive one-on-one story and cartooning instruction to help develop your own talents. Personalized rewards will require me to contact you individually for more details, and spots are limited!
Take a look at the patron levels. I think there’s something there for everyone. Thank you for your support and I can’t wait to share more of my art with you!
*I will only take commission orders for G or PG rated content. I reserve the right to refuse requests I deem inappropriate to my core audience. In this case, the patron will have an opportunity to chose another idea.
